ABOUT THE BLACK KITCHEN INITIATIVE


America’s Black-owned restaurants are cultural treasures that have been instrumental in shaping the foods and flavors we enjoy today. As such, Heinz collaborated with the LEE Initiative, Southern Restaurants for Racial Justice (SRRJ), and 60 Black-owned restaurants across the country. In service of the ideas of celebrating and preserving the legacy of Black food, the Black Kitchen Initiatve was born, seeking to connect Black restaurateurs to tangible resources that support the long-term health of their establishments. Black cuisine, Black culture, and Black businesses have made an indelible mark on the best parts of America; we hope that the Black Kitchen Initiative plays a small role in uplifting and showcasing that vibrant legacy.
